Built in 1954 by a Swiss family, the hotel is situated really close to the harbour of Santa Margherita Ligure, in the middle of a green oasis of pines, eucalyptus, magnolias and dominates the bay of the town with its six floors.

The marvellous heated sea water swimming pool, which has got the original form of an atoll, and the sunny terraces decorated with flowers, give You the possibility to enjoy one of the most beautiful views over the gulf of Tigullio.

The hotel disposes of two restaurants, congress centre, diving centre, sailing club and offers its clients various motor and regatta boats as well as a minibus to facilitate their movements.

Two spacious shady parking lots give You the possibility to park Your car comfortably.

Assisted by the instructors of the <b>San Fruttuoso Diving Centre</b>, highly qualified and authorized centre, you can discover in security the beauty of the waters of Portofino, the most beautiful of the Mediterranean Sea, or the wrecks of Tigullio.

If you love adventure and the sea, the hotel offers you the possibility to rent different types of boats (sailing or motor boats) directly at the reception for <b>daily excursions on the sea or small cruises</b> – always with <b>skipper</b>.

A comfortable pair of sailing shoes, a wind jacket is everything you need to enjoy some hours on the sea. For small cruises lasting a few days we recommend sporty clothing and of course a warm pullover also for summer nights.

Near our swimming-pool, at the tables of our American-Bar, are served light dishes “à la carte”.

Sailing

The skipper Mauro proposes <b>marvellous trips along the coast from</b><i> Portofino to Sestri Levante</i> with the possibility to stop in the magnificent bays of the gulf of Tigullio and to visit the villages of the Riviera.

Rocco, Punta Chiappa, S. Fruttuoso, Portofino Mare, Paraggi; or in the unforgettable hinterland – Portofino Vetta, Nozarego.<b>Santa Margherita Ligure’s Tennis Club</b> disposes of 5 tennis courts with synthetic grass (3 of them polyvalent), one court in beaten earth and private parking place.<b>Rapallo’s golf court</b>, founded in 1931, is visited and appreciated by players of the whole world – not only for its marvellous geographic position (based on the rests of a Cistercian Abbey of Valle Christi – XIII century), but also for its difficulty with natural obstacles which challenge players ability.

Overall very pleasant hotel and friendly and helpful staff. The only real minus is the quality of the coffee. In a country like Italy this is below every standard.

The swimming pool was fabulous and we enjoyed the poolside nibbles. The position of hotel is great for visiting Santa M on foot and the view from our room was stunning. We preferred the breakfasts in the other 4* hotels we stayed in and found the pillows uncomfortable but the staff were very helpful and courteous and we enjoyed our stay.
